Vigilis Voleguard

The Vigilis Voleguard is a ground-level tree and shrub protection guard designed to help prevent vole and rodent damage to young trees, saplings and shrubs. Voles can cause significant damage by gnawing and girdling the lower stems and root areas of newly planted trees, particularly in grassland, woodland and areas with established vole populations. The Vigilis Voleguard creates a protective barrier around the vulnerable base of the plant, helping young trees establish successfully.

The 20cm Vigilis Voleguard can be used as a standalone vole guard or positioned inside a larger tree shelter to provide additional protection at ground level. Its rigid single-wall polypropylene construction is designed to make installation into the soil straightforward, while the wrap-around design allows the guard to be opened for quick installation and removal. With a 32–38mm diameter and green finish, it is suitable for protecting the lower stem and root area of newly planted trees and shrubs.

Manufactured from UV-stabilised, photodegradable polypropylene containing up to 30% post-consumer recycled material, the Vigilis Voleguard combines practical tree protection with a considered approach to sustainability. It is designed to provide 6+ years of protection and is fully recyclable at the end of its useful life when collected. This makes it particularly suitable for farmers, landowners, forestry contractors, woodland creation projects, hedgerow planting and environmental planting schemes where effective vole and rodent protection is required.

Installation

The Vigilis Voleguard features a wrap-around design that allows it to be opened and positioned around the base of an existing planted tree or shrub. Its single-wall construction is designed to make inserting the guard into the soil easier, creating protection around the vulnerable lower stem and root area.

The Voleguard can be used on its own or inside a standard tree shelter where additional ground-level protection is required. When used with a tree shelter, it provides a second layer of defence against vole and rodent damage close to ground level.

For the best protection, ensure the guard is positioned securely around the plant and that there are no significant gaps that would allow rodents to reach the protected stem.

Maintenance & Removal

Regularly inspect young trees and shrubs to ensure the Voleguard remains correctly positioned and secure. Check for signs of plant growth, movement, damage or disturbance and reposition where necessary.

The wrap-around design makes the Voleguard straightforward to open and remove when protection is no longer required or when carrying out tree maintenance.

Packaging & Storage

Before installation, store the product upright, undercover and in dry conditions away from direct sunlight. Do not place heavy objects on top of stored Voleguards.
