  • + Product Description

The Vigilis Tree Shelter is a robust, rigid tree guard designed to provide full tube protection for newly planted broadleaf and conifer trees. Manufactured from UV-stabilised, photodegradable polypropylene, this twin-walled cylindrical tree shelter helps protect vulnerable saplings from browsing and grazing animals while creating a protected environment that encourages healthy tree establishment and growth. With a 76–110mm diameter and a choice of five heights, Vigilis Tree Shelters provide protection suitable for a wide range of forestry, woodland and land management applications.

Available in 60cm, 75cm, 1.2m, 1.5m and 1.8m heights, the Vigilis Tree Shelter range provides protection against rabbits, hares and different deer species, making it suitable for everything from small-scale farm planting to large woodland creation and forestry projects. Pre-fitted releasable cable ties make installation quick and straightforward, while allowing the shelter to be released for tree inspection and maintenance when required. The twin-wall construction offers an excellent strength-to-weight ratio and the green finish provides useful light transmission to support healthy plant development.

The Vigilis Tree Shelter is also designed with end-of-life recycling in mind. It contains up to 30% post-consumer recycled polypropylene and is 100% recyclable when collected at the end of its service life, helping reduce reliance on virgin plastic and avoid unnecessary landfill waste. UV stabilisation provides a minimum lifespan of 6+ years, making these tree guards a durable and practical choice for farmers, landowners, forestry contractors, tree planting professionals, estates and environmental planting schemes.

    Installation & Maintenance

Vigilis Tree Shelters are supplied with pre-fitted releasable cable ties, making them quick and easy to install around newly planted trees. The shelter should be positioned securely around the tree and supported with a suitable stake to provide stability against wind and weather.

The releasable cable ties allow the tree shelter to be opened or removed when carrying out routine tree maintenance, inspection or replacement work. Regular checks are recommended to ensure the shelter and supporting stake remain secure and that the growing tree has sufficient space to develop.

    Packaging & Storage

Before installation, store shelters upright in dry conditions and away from direct sunlight, preferably undercover. Do not place heavy objects on top of stored tree shelters.

    Sustainability

Vigilis Tree Shelters have been designed with a considered approach to plastic use and end-of-life recycling.

The polypropylene construction contains up to 30% post-consumer recycled material, helping reduce the amount of virgin plastic required during manufacture. Once the shelters have reached the end of their useful life, they are 100% recyclable when collected, providing an alternative to sending used tree guards to landfill.

For large forestry, farm and woodland creation projects, collection and recycling at end of life can help support more responsible management of tree planting plastics.
