Sowing Rate: 14kg per acre | 20kg bag covers approximately 1.43 acres

The Herbal Ley Legume & Herb Rich Sward 20kg is a diverse herbal ley seed mixture designed to establish a productive, legume and herb-rich grassland sward for livestock forage. The recommended sowing rate is 14kg per acre, with one 20kg bag providing approximately 1.43 acres of coverage at the recommended rate.

Combining grasses, legumes and herbs in one complete mixture, this GS4 / SAM3 / CSAM3 herbal ley seed mix provides an alternative to a conventional grass-only sward. The formulation contains five grass species, six legume species and four herb species, providing a diverse plant composition for productive agricultural grassland and livestock forage.

The mixture is designed around the principles of grassland diversification, soil fertility, soil structure, soil biology and resilience, while the inclusion of legumes can help reduce reliance on inorganic fertiliser. The stated flowering period is approximately April to October, providing a long flowering window within the established sward.

This herbal ley mixture is particularly suited to farmers, livestock farmers, landowners, estates, land consultants, agronomists and agricultural land managers looking for a diverse forage and environmental grassland seed mixture.

    Schemes

    • GS4 – Legume and Herb-rich Swards
    • SAM3 – Herbal Ley
    • CSAM3 – Herbal Ley

The mixture contains grasses, legumes and herbs, making it a complete herbal ley / legume and herb-rich sward seed mix rather than a grass-free legume and herb mixture.

Always check the current requirements of the relevant SFI or Countryside Stewardship action and your individual agreement before establishment, as scheme specifications and requirements may change.
