Create thriving rooftop habitats with Wildflower Green Roof Matting Turf, a specialist ready-to-lay wildflower turf designed specifically for green roof systems. Developed to perform in exposed rooftop environments, this premium wildflower matting combines biodiversity benefits, visual appeal, and low-maintenance performance, making it an ideal solution for sustainable urban landscaping projects.

Containing a carefully selected mix of 41 UK native wildflowers and grasses, with a minimum 50% wildflower content, this turf creates a resilient, attractive roof meadow that supports pollinators and urban wildlife while remaining lightweight and suitable for shallow growing substrates. Designed to withstand rooftop challenges such as wind exposure, temperature fluctuations, and limited soil depth, it offers reliable establishment and long-term performance with minimal irrigation requirements.

Flowering from March through September, Wildflower Green Roof Matting Turf provides months of seasonal colour and ecological value. Suitable for projects ranging from small residential roofs to large-scale commercial developments, it delivers immediate visual impact while contributing to sustainable drainage, urban cooling, and biodiversity enhancement objectives.

    Installation Guidance

Ensure the roof structure, waterproofing system, and growing medium have been fully prepared prior to installation. The substrate should be level, free-draining, and free from weeds and debris. Lay the turf immediately upon delivery, ensuring each section is tightly butted together without overlaps or gaps. Firm gently into place to maximise contact between the turf and substrate.

    Watering & Establishment

    • Water lightly after installation, particularly during dry or windy conditions.
    • Maintain adequate moisture during the initial establishment period.
    • Once established, irrigation requirements are minimal.
    • Suitable for environments with fluctuating rooftop moisture levels.
    • Avoid unnecessary foot traffic during the establishment phase.

    Maintenance

    • Typically requires only one annual cut.
    • Cut at the end of the flowering season.
    • Remove all cuttings after mowing to maintain species diversity.
    • Monitor periodically for invasive weeds or undesirable species.
    • Minimal ongoing maintenance is required once established.
