Fruit Cage & Crop Protection

The netting can be installed over fruit cage frames to help protect fruit, vegetables, berries and other crops from birds. It can also be positioned over vegetable patches, allotments and growing areas to create a physical barrier between vulnerable plants and birds.

When installing over crops, ensure the netting is securely supported and that gaps around the edges are minimised to prevent birds from entering underneath.

Pond Protection

Economy Anti-Bird Plastic Netting can also be used for pond protection, helping reduce access by birds and other animals while minimising leaves and other debris entering the water.

For pond applications, ensure the netting is securely supported and installed appropriately around the pond perimeter. Avoid leaving loose netting where it could become tangled or pose a hazard to wildlife.

Installation Guidance

1. Measure the area or structure to be protected and select a suitable netting size.
2. Install suitable support posts, hoops, frames or other structures where required.
3. Carefully unfold or unroll the netting and position it over the protected area.
4. Secure the netting around the perimeter using suitable clips, ties, pegs or fixing points.
5. Ensure there are no significant gaps around the edges where birds could enter.
6. For fruit cages, support the netting above the plants and secure it around the frame.
7. For ponds, ensure the netting is securely supported above the water and properly fixed around the perimeter.

Please Note

Due to the mesh sizes, some small butterflies may still be able to pass through the netting. If complete butterfly exclusion is required, a dedicated anti-butterfly netting with a smaller 8mm mesh aperture is recommended.
