Flexible Hexagonal Mesh

50mm Galvanised Chicken Wire

The 50mm x 50mm hexagonal mesh is manufactured using heavier 20 gauge wire, approximately 0.9mm thick. The larger aperture provides greater openness while the heavier wire provides a stronger option for general-purpose fencing, animal enclosures, garden protection and agricultural applications.

Galvanised Steel Construction

The steel wire is finished with a protective galvanised zinc coating to help protect against corrosion and rust. This makes the mesh suitable for a variety of outdoor applications, including gardens, allotments, agricultural areas, horticultural projects and animal enclosures.

The flexible wire construction also makes the mesh straightforward to handle during installation. It can be cut to length and shaped around posts, frames, trees and other structures as required.

Installation Guidance

1. Measure the area to be enclosed or protected and determine the required length of mesh.
2. Install suitable posts, stakes, frames or supporting structures.
3. Unroll the 1.2m high chicken wire carefully along the required area.
4. Cut the mesh to the required length using suitable wire cutters.
5. Position and shape the mesh around posts, frames, trees or other structures.
6. Secure the mesh at regular intervals using suitable fencing staples, clips, ties or other appropriate fixings.
7. Check the completed installation for gaps, loose sections or exposed sharp wire ends.
8. Where required, fold or secure cut edges to reduce exposed wire ends.

For animal enclosures, ensure the mesh is securely fixed and that the aperture and installation are appropriate for the animals being contained.

Please Note

The wire is galvanised before twisting. When the mesh is cut, exposed wire ends may be susceptible to surface rust where the protective coating has been removed.

For demanding or long-term outdoor installations, cut ends can be protected using a suitable galvanising spray or paint.

Care should be taken when handling and cutting galvanised wire mesh, as cut wire ends can be sharp. Suitable gloves and appropriate protective equipment should be used during installation.
