The permeable non-woven structure allows water, air and nutrients to pass through to the soil, making the membrane suitable for use around planted areas and beneath organic and decorative landscaping materials.

For the best results, existing vegetation should be removed before installation and the membrane should be properly secured and covered.

It can be used alongside both liquid and solid fertilisers, making it suitable for applications involving planted beds, vegetable areas, containers and other landscaped spaces where fertilisation is required.

Installation Guidance

For best results, install Weed-Defenda 50gsm over suitably prepared ground:

1. Remove existing weeds and vegetation from the area.
2. Clear debris and unwanted roots before levelling the soil.
3. Unroll the membrane across the prepared ground.
4. Cut the fabric to the required shape and size using scissors or a safety knife.
5. Secure the membrane using suitable U-pins or plastic landscape pegs.
6. Where multiple sections are required, overlap adjoining pieces by at least 150mm (6 inches).
7. Cover the membrane with a generous layer of mulch or decorative aggregate within 48 hours to protect it from UV exposure.

The membrane can be installed beneath bark, mulch, stone chippings, gravel, pebbles and other suitable landscaping materials.

For applications such as artificial grass, domestic patios or areas requiring greater mechanical strength and heavier-duty weed and rhizome control, consider using a heavier-grade weed control membrane.
