Our Japanese Knotweed Root Barrier will help to manage the spread of Japanese Knotweed and other tough to control species. It is ideal as a root barrier as it is equally effective when used vertically or horizontally to prevent root ingress and damage.

Japanese knotweed is not generally harmful to humans, although it has been known to cause some mild skin irritation.  Japanese knotweed is not native to Europe and was introduced to the UK without its natural enemies and left to its own devices can become quite vigorous.

Japanese Knotweed Root Barrier is a Geocomposite root barrier system that includes copper. Copper acts as a signal layer that all plants avert their growth from. The copper foil only releases minute quantities of the copper ion which is just enough to deter plant shoots or root primordia (growth tips) from growing into the vicinity of copper concentrations. In essence, the roots/shoots will turn their growth in a different direction when confronted with the copper foil.
