  • + Product Description

The Calcareous Soil Wildflower Plug Plants Mix is a professionally selected blend of UK native wildflower plug plants, specifically chosen to thrive in lime-rich, chalky and alkaline soils. Designed for reliable establishment in conditions where many seed mixes fail, this mix is ideal for large-scale planting schemes across parks, verges, estates, gardens, nature reserves and biodiversity projects.

Supplied as pre-grown plug plants, each grown in a 40cc cell, this mix offers faster establishment, stronger root development and immediate visual impact compared to direct sowing. Calcareous soils are typically free-draining and nutrient-poor; the species in this mix are naturally adapted to these conditions, delivering resilient growth with minimal ongoing maintenance once established.

The mix produces a vibrant succession of flowers from late spring through to summer, creating long-lasting colour while supporting pollinators including bees, butterflies and hoverflies. Plug plants can be planted individually for targeted schemes or grouped to form naturalistic meadows, verges, pollinator corridors and habitat restoration areas.

This mix is particularly well suited to local authorities, landscape contractors, ecologists, estates and conservation groups seeking dependable performance, strong biodiversity outcomes and compliance with sustainable planting and Biodiversity Net Gain objectives.

A minimum of 10 UK native species is supplied in equal proportions, selected from a wider calcareous-soil species list. Species selection may vary slightly depending on seasonal availability to ensure plants are delivered healthy and ready for planting at the optimum time.
